The Aygo X is the new name for the Toyota Aygo. The X stands for Cross, because Toyota has given it a slightly raised driving position, bigger wheels and tyres and rugged styling cues to make it a bit like a crossover SUV.

As the city car segment is one that is shrinking, those wanting a cheap runaround are short of choice but the Toyota goes up against the likes of the Hyundai i10, Fiat 500 and Kia Picanto.

If you are looking for a compact city car or if you are a first-time driver, the Toyota Aygo X is ideal. You get a lot of standard equipment, features and technology, all at an affordable price point. Whereas the Toyota Yaris Cross is the perfect choice if you need some extra space or have a family.

I have had 2 Aygos and have found both to be very reliable, cheap to run and to perform well for their engine size. Boot space and rear passenger space are smallish but front seats are spacious and comfortable.
