Updated June 18, 2024, by Shagun Singh: Some individuals tend to interpret the enchanting sensation of falling in love quite literally. Many fantasy anime series prioritise romance, placing it at the forefront of the story, regardless of whether they are set on Earth or in a fantasy realm that the protagonist is transported to. Fantasy works offer fans a captivating world where endless possibilities unfold, making it the perfect backdrop for enchanting love stories. It’s no surprise that many of these stories centre around the developing connections between humans and otherworldly beings.

Here Are Some Of The Best Fantasy Romance Anime
18. Dungeon Ni Deai Wo Motomeru No Wa Machigatteiru Darou Ka
This is the first DanMachi anime series, which set the stage for everything that came after. So, the series is so high on our list because of this.
In the story, a man named Bell Cranel is trying to become the best adventurer ever.
This is going to be hard to do because in this world, both people and Gods are working together to make their own species better.
But to help him on his goal, he ends up finding Hestia, a goddess who seems to make a lot more of his dreams come true.
And now the fun really starts. To make a living in this world, the cast goes out to find the dungeons and kill the monsters.
17. Hataraku Maou-Sama!
The Devil is a Part-Timer is one of the silliest and most popular anime shows ever. In the story, there is a devil who is trying to become the ruler of all realms.
But because of something that wasn’t planned, this devil loses all of his magic powers and is now stuck in our world.
Here, instead of trying to take over countries, he is trying to make money and pay his bills. And this is why the show is so incredibly funny.
Soon, the devil will try to make it in this modern world by getting a part-time job.
Let’s just say, though, that it won’t be easy. And by telling this story, the show tries to make fun of society as a whole.
16. Re:Zero
This fantasy anime is known for being one of the best, which is what makes it so special.
A guy named Subaru is in a dream world in the show. My man meets a girl named Satella while he is trying to stay alive in this world. He tries to get after her to thank her for what she did for him.
But soon enough, Subaru figures out that his choice was a bad one. Things happen, and in the end, both Subaru and Satella end up dying.
But when Subaru opens his eyes and finds himself back where it all started, things take a surprising turn.
What’s going on?
What keeps him alive?
Did Satella die?
This world of Re:Zero will solve all of these questions.
15.Kokoro Connect
I think we can all agree that high school is already pretty hard to understand.
Your hormones are crazy, your personality is all over the place, and your tries to find love can go either way.
But the five main characters in Kokoro Connect have it even worse. Not only are they in high school, but a bored alien starts messing with them.
He starts making them switch bodies, share feelings, and do all sorts of other weird things.
And since there is so much chemistry and tried love between the five of them, you can understand how complicated things can get.
14.The Ancient Magus’ Bride
The first part of this show is definitely sad. But don’t be fooled by that.
We see a young girl try to find a place to live by putting herself up for sale. It turns out that the top bidder is this tall man with a skull mask.
Even though this sounds like the plot of a horror movie, we (and the girl) soon find out that the man is actually very nice and wants to make the girl his student and wife.
You might ask, “An apprentice in what?”
Why, of course, magic.
13.Natsuyuki Rendezvous
Just in terms of the idea, this show is both crazy and great.
We watch a young man named Ryousuke fall in love with a widow who owns a flower shop.
He plans to make a move on her, but then he finds out that her dead husband’s ghost is still around the old shop and doesn’t want anyone to get close to his wife.
Since Ryousuke is the only one who can see the ghost, this seems like a great joke.
But even though the show is definitely funny, you shouldn’t think of it as a love story.
12.The Monogatari series
At this point, the world of the Monogatari series is so big that you’re sure to find something you like.
There’s something for everyone, whether they like cute vampires, yandere serpent girls, strange con artists, or that one guy in a Hawaiian shirt who seems to know everything.
But it really hits the mark when it comes to romance, because the bond that develops between Araragi and Senjougahara is both perfect and believable.
She might have hit him the first time they met. But the way they get along really lets something beautiful grow in the space they share.
11.Yona of the Dawn
If you want a good old-fashioned lady love story, you don’t have to look any further.
The title of Yona is a typical princess character in that she is very protected and doesn’t understand the problems facing her people.
But everything changes when her cousin does a complete about-face and kills her father out of the blue, forcing her to leave the country.
What’s this, though?
Hak, a man she has known since childhood and who is a total jerk, is also going away with her?
I wonder what could happen next.
10.Your Name
If you love dream romance and live within 100 miles of a theater, you’ve probably already seen this movie.
It’s a simple story about two people who swap bodies at random one day.
The two have very different lives and can only talk to each other through records and tattoos so that the other person doesn’t mess up their life.
But maybe all of this is happening because of something bigger going on in the background?
Who knows?
The only way to find out is to try.
9.Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
A lot of people have the wrong idea about this show because of the cover art and the words “bunny girl” in the title.
But, really, it’s a lot more than just an ecchi show.
There is something called Puberty Syndrome in the world of Bunny Girl Senpai.
But Puberty Syndrome does something much sneakier and mysterious than give people acne and their first period cramps.
Maybe it will make you invisible, maybe it will give you huge cuts that don’t bleed, or maybe it will just make you forget what happened. It’s hard to say.
What is certain is that the main character will try to help, and he may also get close to his senpai.
8.Snow White with the Red Hair
You don’t have to be a spy to figure out that this show is like a tribute to the original Snow White, though I think it is much better.
This time, the main character is a woman who works as a herbalist. One day, a very protective prince comes after her.
She gets away from him, but ends up in the arms of the much better prince Zen.
Zen chooses to protect our hero, and she promises to work with his kingdom and use her magic to make new medicine.
So not only is our female lead much more independent and interesting than the one in the Disney movie, but the prince here respects her individuality and is still a hunk.
Sign me up.
7.Kamisama Kiss
Setting up this show was quite a bumpy ride, but I couldn’t be happier with where it ended up.
We see a young girl lose hope because her dad’s gaming habit has put her in so much debt.
But one day, she sees a man being chased by a dog and decides to help, as one does.
But then the man thanks her by giving her a house.
Sike, the man was giving her a broken-down shrine because he was its god up until this point, and now it’s up to our hero to take care of it.
That’s quite a turn, isn’t it?
But there’s a familiar fox in the shrine, and he’s pretty hot. What could happen after that?
6.Hotarubi no Mori e
If you want to cry, just go see this movie, which is a true gem.
The story is about a girl who gets lost in the woods and finds a young boy who is wearing a mask.
It turns out that the boy is a ghost, and he takes her back home.
But the girl keeps coming back to the forest year after year, and she grows close to the spirit she met there.
The only problem is that they can’t touch each other or he will vanish.
And then the song “You Will Be King Again” started playing, and tears started to fall.
5.Spice & Wolf
At first, the way the show’s main characters fall in love seems pretty random, but after a few shows, it becomes so brilliant.
On one side is a trader on the road who just wants to make some money.
On the other hand, there is a wolf goddess who is tired of people not appreciating her when she blesses their fruits.
So she ends up sleeping in the man’s shopping cart. And, by chance, the two of them start traveling together.
The viewers can see the chemistry right away, but it takes them a little longer to get the point.
4.Weathering with You
In the movie Weathering with You, two teenagers are looking for a place to fit in.
The thing is, the girl is definitely more strange because she can make the clouds part and the sun come out.
Even though the two kids met by chance, they became close very quickly.
And then turn this sunshine power into a business.
But with a lot of power comes a lot of duty. And a great movie comes from a great love story.
3.Sword Art Online
Sword Art Online is a show that fans of anime both love and hate.
But I still think there are good things about it that need to be said.
It feels like the grandfather of isekai, and the graphics and fight scenes are good.
But for a lot of people, what made the story interesting was how Kirito and Asuna fell in love.
If nothing else, the two get much closer to each other than is usual in isekai.
I mean, they kind of had a child at one point. I know it’s wild.
2.No Game No Life
Even though I’m sure a lot of fans were upset to see a No Game No Life movie where Sora and Shiro don’t show up, I think they quickly forgot about that.
This movie is a predecessor to the popular series. It tells the story of a man named Riku and an Ex-machina he calls Schwi.
The sixteen races are fighting for power and the title of God, while the two main characters, who are outcasts, try to make sense of the world and themselves.
They make an odd pair, but they bring out the best in each other and find a tiny bit of happiness in a dark world.
Man, I wasn’t let down at all.
1.Fruits Basket
The fantasy romance classic Fruits Basket is about a girl named Tooru and her bond with the Souma family.
Due to a series of bad luck, Tooru ends up living on the streets. But Yuki Souma, the star student at her school, invites her to stay with his family until she can find her own place.
But then she finds out that the Souma family is under a curse: if they are hugged by someone of the opposite gender, they will turn into an animal from the Zodiac.
Kyou, whose family shuns him because he was born under the sign of the cat, is the man to watch out for when it comes to love.
